Strong M8.7 Solar Flare - October 22, 2014

Dim lights

STRONG M-CLASS SOLAR FLARE !
Active Region 12192 continues to produce sizable solar flares with 8 M-Class and an X1.1 barrage in less than four days, the latest a very strong M8.7 at 01:59 UTC this morning. As yet no significant Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) have followed these eruptions with the bulk of ejecta heading well south of the ecliptic plane. This Active Region will be earth-facing in 2-3 days, meanwhile the north eastern limb another significant active region is about to rotate onto the earth-facing side of the disk. More information when solar imagery updates.

MAJOR X1.1 Solar Flare - October 19, 2014

Dim lights

MAJOR X-CLASS SOLAR FLARE !
Active Region 12192 unleashed a Major X1.1 solar flare at 05:03 UTC this morning. This spectacular long duration event implies a large coronal mass ejection (CME) will be following, however the ejecta seems to have a strong component heading well south of the ecliptic plane and not heading towards the earth. As yet no CME is visible in solar telemetry, stay tuned for updates.

Major X1.6 Solar Flare & Earth Directed CME - Sep 10, 2014

Dim lights

MAJOR X-CLASS SOLAR FLARE & EARTH DIRECTED CME !
Active Region 12158 has just unleashed a Major X-Class Solar Flare peaking to X1.6 at 17:45 UTC
this afternoon. A powerful Full Halo Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) has followed this eruption and will be heading directly towards the earth with impact on earths magnetic field late September 13 into 14 where a strong geomagnetic storm will be possible. Associated with this event  was a Type II & IV Radio emission with a velocity of 3750 km/s and a R3 Radio blackout.

M4.3 Solar Flare - October 16, 2014

Dim lights

STRONG M-CLASS SOLAR FLARE !
An impulsive M4.3 Solar Flare was registered at 13:03 today from an active region yet to turn the earth facing solar disk and will be numbered once it does so. This active region could provide fireworks in the days ahead. As yet no Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is available via satellite imagery but we can expect a large CME headed towards mars once imagery becomes available. Associated with this blast was 10cm radio burst with a duration of 60 seconds and a peak flux of 180 sfu.

M4.6 SOLAR FLARE & CME - September 9, 2014

Dim lights

M4.6 SOLAR FLARE & CME !!
Active Region 12158 unleashed a long duration M4.6 solar flare this morning at 00:29 UTC.  A coronal mass ejection (CME) is now visible in the latest SOHO imagery and appears there maybe a component of the CME that may brush earths magnetic field and deliver a glancing blow late on September 12th where a weak geomagnetic storm could be possible the following day. Associated with this event was a Type II and Type IV radio emissions and a 10cm Radio Burst (Ten Flare) measuring 370 solar flux units with a duration of 10 minutes.
more information and updates once more data is processed.
