M7.2 Solar Flare & Huge CME January 7, 2014

STRONG M7 CLASS SOLAR FLARE !!
A strong M7.2 solar flare was reported at 10:13 UTC this morning from Active Region 11944. Associated with this event was a TenFlare peaking to 409 solar flux units. An update of information will be added once solar imagery reveals if the resulting eruption has produced a significant Coronal Mass Ejection (CME).

MAJOR X-FLARE !!
Another X-Flare from departing region 11875 was reported at 21:54 UTC. The eruption peaked to X2.3 and produced a R2 level radio blackout and type IV radio sweep. A very large Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) has followed the blast but as the active region was rotating off the disk, the direction of the CME will not have an earth bound component.
